Here's the winner for Quote of the Day, from a Bloomberg story about President-elect Barack Obama's decisions on filling spots in his administration:
"What you're going to see with Obama is a mixture of wise men and young Turks,'' says Democratic consultant Peter Fenn.
While Obama may endure criticism for calling on some "usual suspects,'' he'd be in more trouble if his picks proved unqualified, Fenn says.
"You don't want the head of the Arabian Horse Association as your FEMA director,'' says Fenn, referring to Michael Brown (shown above), Bush's choice to run the Federal Emergency Management Agency, who was ousted after the botched government response to Hurricane Katrina.

Let's hope Obama actually delivers on his promise to choose wisely. I'd like to see a bipartisan (or tri-partisan, if you count Independents), multi-racial, both-gender list that truly reflects the makeup of the country.
I'm hoping Colin Powell is given a position of significant influence, especially with regard to Iraq, Pakistan, and terrorism.
I'm hoping that Robert Gates is kept on as Pentagon chief. Seems like a very bright man who knows what he's doing.
Howard Dean would also be a good pick for Health and Human Services since he's a doctor.
Here's another quote of the day, from Sarah Palin:
"If there is an open door in '12 or four years later, and if it is something that is going to be good for my family, for my state, for my nation, an opportunity for me, then I'll plow through that door."
Um, why would you need to "plow through" the door if it's open?!
