Vick deserves to rot in Hell

The photo above is disturbing. It's meant to be. It should hurt you deep in your heart and soul. And it should serve as a reminder that Michael Vick should never, ever, be allowed to regain employment in the NFL. In fact, a person like Vick should never be released back among decent people, but our justice system doesn't allow for him to be locked up for life for his transgressions. A newly released report from the USDA says Vick placed family pet dogs into a ring and laughed when they were mauled by his fighting-trained pit bulls. It also said a 2007 polygraph test showed Vick to be lying when he denied taking part in the killings of dogs, though he later admitted hanging six or eight dogs that didn't perform up to his liking in the fighting ring. Why should a person like this be allowed to walk the streets again as early as next July, after completing part of his slap-on-the-wrist sentence? Almost equally disturbing as Vick's actions are the attitudes of people like the idiot shown at left who is more concerned with having a quarterback for his beloved Atlanta Falcons and worshipping at the shrine of the NFL than with the fate of defenseless animals who were subjected to horrors you and I can only imagine. You might say that people make mistakes and deserve a second chance. In this case, I can't agree. This wasn't a spur-of-the-moment error in judgment. This was a calculated, long-term plan to inflict horrific pain and suffering on other living beings. And this wasn't some kid doing it. Vick was in his mid-20s when committing his sickening acts. He was an adult who thought he was untouchable, that the sun shone out his backside, just because he was a gifted athlete. If any NFL team signs Vick after his release from prison, they should be subjected to massive protests and boycotts, not just by animal-rights activists, but by any decent, caring, moral person. I'm a huge fan of NFL football. I watch as many games as I can and participate in two NFL fantasy leagues, and I admittedly let it slide when the Steelers treated the allegations of James Harrison's assault on his girlfriend like the whole thing was nothing more than getting a parking ticket, but I pledge to never watch another NFL game if Michael Vick is allowed to return to the league. To do so would be to condone what he did and, in some small way, to help put money in his pockets.

I can guarantee you that no team will touch him - unless it's the Raiders. And they have JaMarcus Russell. Vick had been exposed as an overrated player before heading off to the clink. He was a one-trick pony.
And no team is going to risk the lines of protesters that would line up outside their stadium if they signed him.

I sure hope you're right. Even though having JaMarcus Russell doesn't seem like such a great deal, I'm sure the "genius" Al Davis would never give up on him because it would just add another bit of evidence that he's a doddering, incompetent idiot. However, the Raiders are weak at receiver, and crazy old Al just might try to find a spot for Vick there. However, all this presumes that Roger Goodell will immediately reinstate Vick once he's out of the crossbar hotel, and I don't think that's a given. What are your thoughts on that?

If Vick deserves to rot in Hell, surely those who sanction this kind of mutilation deserve to rot in Hell, also. Lord have mercy on us all. http://www.abortiontruths.net/picturesabortedbabies.html

Brant, the problem is that there are worse offenders in the NFL. Ray Lewis and the gang have been involved or possibly involved in homicides against HUMANS. There have been assaults on HUMANS by players. Let alone we discuss the horrible actions of those that seem to be uninterested in raising their children (Tom Brady, Brian Urlacher). The dog fighting is horrendous, but all crime should be kept in context. Prison for life for this crime would lead to prison for life for a variety of much lesser crimes against HUMANS, because HUMANS should still matter more than animals. Vick is a piece of garbage.
Dale is right (as usual) the only team is the wonderful Raiders, but one can't hold that against the NFL. Remember they will be facing lawsuits and crap if they don't let the convicted felon play. Let him stink on the Raiders and plus consider this...
Everytime someone hits him, the fans will cheer. Every late hit will be praised.

p.s. hey anonymous - I bet those humans got what was coming to them. Dogs never did shit to piss off anyone, and that's why it's terrible. The same way that abusing children is worse than killing adults, as you just pointed out. All dogs really demand is food and water and a lap. they are innocent. human adults are intrinsic pieces of shit that don't have any more of a right to live over any animal, and I'd love to hear a justification why.

Brant, seriously, I come to check into your blog, and now I'm going to have nightmares.

i'm about to cook up a big human butt steak, and suck it down with the gravy that i make from cooking Anonymous's ignorant brain down to a fishy rue.

I hope I'm wrong on this, but I predict that Vick will be playing in the NFL when he gets out. How long he'll play is another story. He certainly won't be in Atlanta, but I'm sure Jerry Jones could find a place for him. The Bengals seem to attract a criminal element.

In any case, if he does play, the public outcry will eventually be more than the NFL and its massive PR and marketing machine will want to deal with. And the fact that he's washing dishes for a living rather than working out with elite professional athletes certainly will be a factor in how long he plays.

I'm glad someone mentioned Ray Lewis. He sure as hell got a free pass. My take on that is that Lewis is guilty as he can be, but both he and Carruth knew that Lewis would have the more promising career, thus making many millions more that Carruth ever could have. So, Carruth took the dive for Lewis, who will pay him off handsomely when he gets out in 2018.

I don't have a problem with Vick and animal-haters of his ilk spending life in jail, but I'm a little bit surprised, Brant, that abortion is an issue of less importance. I support a woman's right to choose, and if she chooses to have an abortion, that's fine with me. But it's still killing.

Do you subscribe to the theory that a fetus isn't a person until it comes into the world? I'm not picking a fight...I'm just curious.

Pri, just to clarify, though Lewis and Carruth are both scumbags, they were involved in different cases. If I recall correctly, Lewis was linked to a murder that occurred in a melee after the Super Bowl in Atlanta a good number of years back. Carruth arranged the murder of his girlfriend and eventually was found hiding in the trunk of a car during a bid to flee authorities. When doing a quick check to confirm my recollections on Carruth, I did come across one hilarious piece of information (at least it was funny to me). Rae Carruth actually was born with a different name: Raelamar Theotis Wiggins. You can't make this stuff up. As to your question, I believe life starts when a fetus can and does live and breathe outside the womb. I'm not a fanatic when it comes to abortion rights, but I think there's a "slippery slope" when you start allowing restrictions. You have some people who want to outlaw RU486 (the morning-after pill) because they consider it a form of abortion. They would rather see a rape victim be forced to carry a rapist's child to term rather than take a pill the day after the attack to end any potential pregnancy. That's a lot more reprehensible to me than a first-trimester abortion.

Brant, I believe you're correct that the Lewis/Carruth/Wiggins topic actually was two separate incidents. Wasn't Carruth on trial for something to do with his pregnant girlfriend? And Wiggins is indeed a hilarious name. I can't hear that name without thinking of Ralph Wiggins on the Simpsons. "Me fail English? That's unpossible."

Thanks for clarifying where you stand on abortion. As Brant and some of the regulars here know, I was raised a Catholic although I parted ways with that church years ago. I understand the different arguments as to whether a fetus is a person, whether it's "alive" or not in the womb and so on. Like I stated, I'm not a big fan of abortion, but it's the woman's choice and I'm not going to take that away from her. She has to deal with her decision, but I support her right to choose what she does.

Speaking of the slippery slope you mention, I am kind of standing on it. For instance, I think a fetus is a person. But as for the morning after pill...I have no problem with that. For one reason, who the hell knows if it "took" or not?

Back to the original topic of Vick, this is worth a look:

Rae Carruth murdered his girlfriend - pregnant girlfriend, I believe.
Lewis was on hand with some of his boys when they murdered two young men in a fight outside an Atlanta nightclub and helped them cover it up.
The Raiders have a lot of money invested in Russell.
I'm guessing the commish won't allow Vick back into the NFL right away. He may make him wait a few years, but then, Vick could sue, claiming he's paid his debt to society - though he's racked up a lot of other debts to various members of society.
I don't see any team taking a chance on that headache.

The Stillers will give him a shot. James Harrison beat up his special lady friend and he's still collecting a check from the Rooney's. They're no better than any other team in the NFL. They used to be. That's a shame.

the sad thing is that this is an animal and I do feel sorry for it dont get me wrong. But you are saying that Vick deserves to rot in Hell because of this, well what about the thousands of aborted babies, why dont you show a picture of that. What is sad that animals have more rights than an unborn child.
