Looking the other way
Police are supposed to enforce the law and protect citizens from crime, and even the lowest scum among us has rights under the law. But it seems that's not the case in Philadelphia. The other day, a vigilante gang of residents in the city's West Kensington section beat a man sought for questioning in the rape of an 11-year-old girl. The residents recognized 26-year-old Jose Carrasquillo from a photo circulated by police, who referred to the man as a "person of interest" in the sexual assault. Carrasquillo was beaten for several minutes before police got on the scene, but Philly Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey says no charges will be brought against the attackers, even though Carrasquillo is still hospitalized for treatment of his injuries. Ramsey says he doesn't condone violence, but his decision contradicts that statement. The commissioner is making it clear that police will look the other way if someone who is a "person of interest" in a heinous crime is the victim of vigilante justice. Carrasquillo is innocent until proven guilty, and police are wrong when they allow lawless thugs to play judge, jury and punisher.

If the vigilantes actually witnessed the rape, then I have no problem with them beating the pig to a pulp...or worse.
But a person of interest is just that. While it frequently ends up that this person is the perpetrator, he hasn't been convicted yet. He might just have information the police need. In this case, the chief of police made a terrible decision and should be held accountable. The vigilantes were wrong and should be charged with a crime. However, as I stated earlier, if they witnessed the actual rape, then I say, "Go for it."
We are all "Looking the other way" while artifical turf is installed at Consol Park at taxpayer's expense!
Wow I'm glad our country has spent that last hundreds of years building a government system based on justice for all and one small city believes it has the right to go against it completely. Hmm, maybe they think they know better.
When you get down to it, this guy has not even been proved guilty or convicted. With that aside, the main point is guilty or not no persons have the right to go on a witch hunt and attack another citizen of our country. What we have here is a group of Americans thinking they can take the law into their own hands.
They should be charged...
Washington, PA is just a mini-Chicago when it comes to politics. Just about as crooked as it could possibly be. When these blood sucking turkeys that masquerade as a baseball organization hook up with these politicians, MIRACLES HAPPEN!
Nobody yet has answered the question; Why do the taxpayers owe the Wild Things anything? It should be the other way around. Don’t try to feed us the sickening bull crap about all the businesses they have brought to the immediate area of CEP. Those same businesses also increase the cost of public services to the area.
Tourism? When was the last time a tour bus came through Washington? The last time I saw one it was broke down, it sure as hell wasn’t touring beautiful downtown Washington to see Shortys Lunch!
The Wild Things management has only one thing in mind. How much money can they suck from this area.
When the well runs dry, or the people finally say “no more”, the WT will pull up stakes and leave town in a heartbeat. That’s the history of the Frontier League – an objective review of their past should prove that to you. All you need to do is look at the number of ‘fallen flags’ in the Frontier Leagues brief history. History has proven, time after time, that “The past IS prologue!" It should not be too difficult to reach a logical conclusion.
Crooks are crooks. No matter how they manage to keep it legal. (Remember, the same politicians that make this sh** legal, are also the ones that write the laws). We’ve been ripped off, plain and simple. We HAVE to admit that, but we don’t have to go down like a meek little lamb. I'm "looking the other way"
What are YOU doing to put the 'heat' on these theiving bastards? I suggest you call them, write to them, and loudly protest. Keep talking to people about it, embarrass them (if that's even possible). Pride is not high on their list of priorites. We MUST keep the spotlight on this issue or it will just fade away. The Wild Things know this and are counting on the fact that nobody really cares enough to kick up a fuss or giving a damn - don't let it happen!

You are correct, Sir! I doubt if it what you suggest will ever come to pass. The nice, but not too smart, citizens of this town will just let themselves be stream rolled by these WT, Bob Gregg, and Burns and Co.
They have had this sort of thing shoved down their throats for all their lives. They are so used to it that it is a way of life in these parts! They won’t take the time to do anything about it.

That night the local news in Philadelphia interviewed a guy that looked a lot like the alleged rapist who was ALSO attacked and beaten by the mob. Apparently the cops came and cuffed him, and then realized he was the wrong guy, let him go and shooed him away. (And then the mob went and found the guy they were looking for) hopefully being on the news will help get that poor guy a little justice...
