They're coming to get you

Some people claim that I have a fixation on Sarah Palin. Really, it's not that. I just think that, as a good American, I have a duty to point out her idiocy on a regular basis so that a few years down the road, nobody tries to revive the idea that this woman would make a good resident of the White House. Palin, in a recent speech, offered her assessment of the Obama administration's economic policies. Some people think those policies are wise. Others, just as legitimately, think that they're a mistake. But Palin believes it's the first step toward a version of Orwell's "1984." And I thought it was Palin's party that liked the warrantless wiretapping. Here's what Palin had to say, presumably with a straight face: "We need to be aware of the creation of a fearful population, and fearful lawmakers, being led to believe that big government is the answer, to bail out the private sector, because then government gets to get in there and control it (insert a "you betcha" whenever you desire). And mark my words, this is going to be next, I fear, bail out next debt-ridden states. Then government gets to get in there and control the people." I could talk a little about Palin's inability to craft a basic sentence. But that's petty. So let me just summarize it this way: This lady is a nincompoop. But just in case she's right, let me offer this warning: The people coming to your house on behalf of the Obama administration to subjugate you will probably be arriving in black helicopters. No, wait, that'd just be Palin, hunting wolves.

My biggest fear is an unnatural citizen getting elected. Did B-Rock go to Pakistan in 1981? How did he get there?
Or a Neo-Marxist hell bent on socializing the auto and healthcare industry that has the press as his own PR firm. Oh wait...

Unnatural? Are you still suggesting that Obama was not born a U.S. citizen? If so, you're nuts. And I have no idea what you're talking about regarding Pakistan. And now he's a neo-Marxist? And I thought he was just a socialist. That's what all the crazy people have been saying.

Is EVERY marxist a "neo" marxist?

What's the difference between a neo-marxist and a classical marxist? Or a post-marxist?

Or... do we just put little pre-hyphen words in there to smartsy up our empty labels?

Hitler was Germany's Savior before the Holocaust. The population adored him because he was going to bring great prosperity and jobs. He was going to make life a land of milk and honey. And after he had control of their minds and owned everything, including their guns...he gassed them. Maybe ignorance is bliss??

There is something too good to be true about Obama. Palin is no genious, but she speaks the truth. Maybe we should all pay closer attention to what this birth certificateless president is doing??

I love how you guys take a very vague similarity between Obama and Hitler and then equate them...

I mean, really... hasn't EVERY president promised "prosperity and jobs..." ??

That's like saying "Hitler ate a salad on a Tuesday once... Obama is having arugula and feta tonight... better stock up on gas masks!"

You mean like the countless comparisons of Bush to Hitler, Ellipses?
That kind of stupidity comes from both sides.
Hell, I saw a thing on the news yesterday that said that publicity whore Cindy Sheehan is back protesting in front of his house again. Newsflash Cindy, he's not in charge any more.

That's exactly what I'm talking about Dale... I would put the "Comparison to Hitler" benchmark at 1 million people...

Until you have directly caused the death of 1 million people, you cannot be compared to Hitler.

Realistically, that number SHOULD be 6 million... But I do have to assume that it would be in some people's best interest to make the comparison so as to PREVENT the person in question from reaching that 6 million person milestone.

In that regard, George Bush is nothing like Hitler... he was only directly responsible for "thousands" of deaths... no where near the 1 million person threshold.

The Hitler card gets played too quickly... If you go around comparing every Tom Dick and Harry to Hitler, eventually, Hitler becomes less of an "epitome of evil" type of character...

Whether you like GW or not, you have to admit... he's no Hitler.

Publicity whore or not... her son did die in a military adventure whose #1 "justification" turned out to be false... avoiding the whole "lying" issue, as well as the fact that it was a bi-partisan and multi-national pronouncement that Iraq was on the verge of mushroom clouding the world... I would say that if anyone has a right to camp out in front of somebody's house, it's Cindy Sheehan... and that no one is MORE worthy of having someone camp outside his house, that it's GW...

Sure, you could say that Hillary Clinton and Harry Reid are worthy to have a front yard camper... but are they MORE worthy of it than "the boss" ???

She can only camp in one place at a time... afterall :-)

To the anonymous person grousing about Obama promising to bring prosperity and jobs -- in 1984, Walter Mondale said he would raise taxes and lost 49 states. Heck, he ended up winning his home state by only the most slender of margins.

Would you like to hear this stump speech: "I guarantee mass unemployment and destitution! Grinding poverty! Despair! And any chicken you find in your pot will be scrawny and barely edible!"

Cindy Sheehan's son enlisted on his own and is at the mercy of the commander in chief. Regardless of who lied or how you feel she has no right to bad mouth any administration. I am sure her son is rolling over in his grave...
AND
We are losing 16000 jobs a month. Can you be an economic hitler? I thought the stimulis packages of Bush and Obama would prevent this. Seems like instead of change we have more failed policies. Right?

So the families of servicemen and women have "no right to bad mouth any administration." ??

Wow... So I can badmouth EVERY administration, but the mother of a dead kid cannot? That's intense... I thought it would be the OTHER way around...

As far as an "economic hitler"... Germany's "floor" in their depression was 1932... and Hitler was appointed Chancellor in 1933.

AND (there are a lot of "ands") only 44 billion of the stimulus package has been spent, which equals 5.5% of the total amount... If the economy was already turned around and unemployment was NOT still expanding, it would suggest that the stimulus bill was 94.5% too big... since we haven't seen a reversal in the trends, but we HAVE seen a slowing in the trends, it suggests that the intended result is, indeed, occurring.

But hey, if you wanna call him Hitler, knock yourself out... just don't expect a lot of people to take you seriously.

Look no futher than this news article http://www.observer-reporter.com/OR/Story/06-09-Waynesburg-Borough you betcha!
That great stimulus plan that BERRY passed is giving a whole $33,000 to Waynesburg. REALLY? $33 GRAND? How many jobs did that bring to the area? Murtha got more money for his airport over in Johnstown! YOU BETCHA! Brant when are you going to learn the the left has been hijacked!? The right is no better either, we have been sold out to the highest bidder. Well when the American Taxpayer has to bail out your left leaning publication, then pass the freedom doctrine and tell you what you can and can't write you will understand. Sorry for the long post, I say nomore

What, specifically, causes you to say that the O-R is a left-leaning publication. We get complaints all the time from people who think we lean to the left, and we get about the same amount from people who think we lean to the right. So hopefully we're fairly balanced. I assume you're talking about the "fairness doctrine." That applies to broadcasters, not newspapers, and it's not coming back. I suppose our best bet is to just keep having tea-bagging parties until things get better.

Can anyone else spot the humor in this:

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) was interviewed last night by Sean Hannity on Fox News:

Palin: We are the only state with a negative tax rate where we don't have any income, sales or property tax statewide, and yes we have a share of our oil resource revenue that goes back to the people that own the resources. Imagine that.

Hannity: And it went up higher since you've been the governor and you negotiated with the oil companies. That all went up so people get a bigger check.

Palin: There was a corrupt tax system up there and we had a couple of lawmakers end up in jail because of the tax system that was adopted so we cleaned it up and said we wanted a fair and equitable share of the resources that we own, and the people will share in those resource revenues that are derived.

(A few minutes later...)

Palin: If Americans aren't paying attention, unfortunately our country could evolve into something that we do not even recognize. Certainly that is so far from what the founders of our country had in mind for us.

Hannity: Socialism?

Palin: Well... that is where we are headed.

Wow... so you get money from the oil companies if you live in Alaska... even if you DON'T work for the oil companies?

Socialism is exacally where we are heading. A society run by the government. What will our lives be like in a few years? A vague comparison?? Look who Obama is chumming up with? Before you know it, we will be required to wear turbines. If Obama were truthful during his campaign, he would have never been elected. He's going to ruin this country as we know it. Again, Palin was telling the truth. There's not much humor in that.
