Be proud, Republicans

U.S. Sen. David Vitter of Louisiana seems to be auditioning for a leading role in a remake of the classic movie “Dumb and Dumber.” In this case, he’s the dumb guy cheering on even dumber ones. Vitter, whom you might remember apologizing profusely after getting snared in the “D.C. Madam” case that starred Charleroi’s own Deborah Jeane Palfrey, held a town hall meeting for some of the home folks over the weekend and endorsed efforts by some conservative (read: lunatic) groups that are mounting court challenges regarding President Obama’s citizenship. Now, every person in America with more brains than a gerbil knows damn well that Obama was born in Hawaii. But since our populace includes its fair share of dolts, these cases continue to be filed. According to the AP, Vitter told the town hall crowd that the only "direct information" he has about Obama's place of birth has come through the news media “filter.” So, what Sen. Dimbulb seems to be suggesting is that every legitimate news organization in this country is part of a vast, left-wing conspiracy to conceal the African birth of our president. C'mon. You can disagree with the president's policies and the direction he'd like the country to take, but get a grip, for heaven's sake. A lot of people in this country aren't happy with President Obama and the Democrats, and most of them know that the correct way to express their displeasure is at the ballot box, this November and in 2012, if they please. But don't waste everyone's time with this jackassery. In closing, I'd just like to say to David Vitter, “You're an idiot.” And to any and all of his fellow “birthers,” you're idiots, too. But I'm willing to help you get over this obsession. I hear that if you stare at the sun, you will eventually be able to see President Obama’s Kenyan birth certificate. But be safe. Make sure you look through the cardboard tube from a spent roll of toilet paper.

I don't mean to be a pessimist...but if I were ask to see my birth certificate, I could show it to anyone.
Why can't Barack Hussein Obama do the same?
Isn't that a strange American name?
Just food for thought...

Congratulations, you're a "birther." I guess if the president was a "real Amerkun" he'd have a name like Smith or Jones. And wasn't it clever of his mother to put those birth announcements in the Hawaii paper back in 1961 so her son could run for president decades later. Sheesh. By the way, all necessary evidence of Obama's birth in Hawaii has been provided.

Brant-You know more about politics than I'll ever know.

I really don't care what his AMerkun name is.

But from what I've been listening to on the radio and seeing on TV, this country is heading in the wrong direction. I just don't have the confidence you seem to have for our president. I know he is trying to help people, but at what expense? I don't mind giving a little to help others either, but I don't want to give most of my paycheck to feed, cloth, house and provide medical care for every living human being illegal or legal, living in this country. Obama’s approval rating is as low as 28% in some states.

You can not handcuff the rich and force them to do anything. They got rich by being savvy and smart, and they will remain rich being savvy and smart. If the government pushes too hard, or takes too much from them, they will figure out ways to make the money otherwise. The whole financially ballooning government burdens will continue to fall upon on you and I. And you can't tell me any different. I know Rush Limbaugh is a little eccentric, but if 1/2 of what he says is true, this country is headed for a financial disaster. The health care bill alone is going to cripple us. (pun intended)

You have been right most of your life about most subjects. And I hope you are right about your enthusiasm towards Obama’s policies and spending. But I just don’t share the same warm, fuzzy feelings that you do. I think the guy is bad news. Like you say, the upcoming elections will settle the debate if the American people are happy with the current government, or not. THe next presidental election should be very interesting.

Oh, and by-the-way, I'm no "birther." I just think these politicians are just looking for ways to boot this guy legally.

I still love you Brant...

Believe me when I tell you that I'm not a dyed-in-the-wool supporter of all the president's policies. Some I disagree with vehemently. But when it comes to the economy, it would be tough sledding for whoever is in the Oval Office, and some of the rhetoric from Obama's opponents is just pure politics and also ridiculous. And I love you, too, brother. ;-)

Grog,

For some of us living in this country, we are living in the midst of a financial disaster.

It never ceases to amaze me how indignant people get over the notion of their tax dollars going to help actual persons, some of them their own neighbors, while presumably okay with billions flowing into the black hole of insanity that is the Iraq/Afghani war. I'd much rather pay for the health care of people in my community, even the child of the illegal farm worker who might have picked the corn I bought last week. I'm sick and tired of funding corporate tax breaks and government waste-n-graft in general, and paying to send yet more of our best, brightest, bravest to be maimed, killed or made insane in a war designed to make a few powerful corporations obscenely rich.

Obama inherited a set of problems that no one man or woman in the Oval Office can sove, and it's his bad luck that Americans are more "now" oriented than ever before. I imagine Obama will be voted out in 2012 and we'll have to adjust to a new prez who can't do anything.
