Bums from both parties

I'm not sure which one of these guys is the most despicable, but Congressman Mark Souder and Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal are both on about the same level as whale poop. Let's start with Souder, shown in the bottom photo. Turns out, the "family values," evangelical Christian Republican from Indiana is a fraud. He's the latest member of the holier-than-thou-oops Hall of Shame. The hypocrite congressman, who said all the "right" things about gay people, abortion and abstinence couldn't keep his own pants on. Souder got caught having an affair with a female staff member, a staffer who once worked with him producing a video about the virtues of abstinence-only sex education. Hah. Nice. He has decided to resign and renew his "walk with the Lord." Souder might want to pick up the pace, because the Lord sure lost him on their last stroll. Then there's the sorry story of Blumenthal, who currently is running for the U.S. Senate in Connecticut. Blumenthal spoke on several occasions about his proud service with the Marines in Vietnam. Just one problem. He was never in Vietnam. In reality, Blumenthal was granted about a half-dozen deferments that enabled him to go to school at Harvard and a fancy school in England. When it finally looked as if was running out of deferments, he managed to snag a spot in the Marine Reserves, greatly reducing any chance of him ending up in the war zone. Blumenthal explained that he "misspoke" or "misplaced my words." Bull. He's a liar. Plain and simple. Blumenthal also said he wasn't going to allow anyone to "impugn my service." They don't have to, dummy. You did it yourself. And this is not scientific by any means, but when you look at the photos of these two sorry excuses for public servants, does the word "weasels" spring to mind? It did for me. Bottom line, Blumenthal has to be considered the most despicable. Souder is just the latest in a long line of "family values" frauds. He only hurt himself, the other woman and his family. Blumenthal has disgraced the memory of all those men and women who gave their lives by actually going to Vietnam. Anyone who votes for him should be ashamed of themselves.

Souder isn't without sin? Who is? His lord will forgive him! The true test is does he keep with his faith or stray?

If Blumenthal wasn't a church going man before, maybe he should ask forgivness too. Not from GOD, but from his fellow Marines? He still did boot, and one weekend a mth! That is a lot more then most punks today. Let the VFW handle him!

Frankly, I'm sick to death of people saying, "I misspoke" to bail themselves out of a jam. You didn't misspeak. You said something stupid and now you're trying to take it back. I agree with Brant...it's despicable to claim service to one's country on a battlefield when the closest they've come to a firefight is to see who gets to light the first cigarette off of a single match.

I know politicians have to project an image of, ahem, integrity and a bit of morality, but can't they put on this act without going overboard to the point that this Souder idiot did? Or the others?

All I can say is if Blumenthal was in Vietnam, his gun musta had one hell of a long barrel. If Obama had said this, there'd have been a Tea Party lynch mob outside the White House the next morning. Sometime the American public might wake up and realize that military service doesn't automatically qualify anyone for office. Someone who works in the Peace Corp is as qualified as a grunt who sits in Afghanistan counting poppies..

Souder is fairly typical. Condemn everyone wholesale, act the same, then be sorry .. sorry that he was caught. But I guess you can't ask for forgiveness unless you sin. I know ... he was in training for Heaven.

As far as Blumenthal is concerned, he is a first-class jerk. He demonstrates that somebody who is intellectually gifted is not necessarily a wise person. Now, I learn he was given the Democratic endorsement and will be the Dem nominee in CT. On the other side is Linda McMayhon, the wrestling organization's executive. What a pair, huh? Somebody who is obviously a very bright man, running against an entertainment executive with no political experience. Yes, they are running for a Senate seat in the United States Congress. As much as I think our system is the best in the world, this one is really puzzling.

With regard to Souder, this is nothing new. When these stories break, we read news reports, followed by all kinds of commentaries. The tone is “Look here, what have we found here? Let me tell you about this stupid person, and how his/her actions betray themselves.”

Why is this stuff considered newsworthy, as if we haven't seen it before? Biblical accounts, including Solomon (wisest man who ever lived), Uzziah, David, plus many others have already recorded the same stories. Yes, the details of the incidents don't exactly match, the principles involved are exactly the same. One thing is strange about these stories and commentaries in 2010. They are often written by people who reject the truths of the Bible. In other words, the stories they reject in the Bible, are the same stories they are writing now as “Look here, let me tell you about this (blah, blah, blah)” If the biblical accounts of the same actions are to be rejected, why do they get any print in stories and commentaries? It tells me the rejection is one of ignorance, not one of being informed.

Charles Djou! 0-5 for Berry?

Here's the reality of the Djou race:

Although a Democrat has represented the urban Honolulu-based congressional district for nearly 20 years, Djou's win came as no surprise. With no party primaries heading into the winner-takes-all special election, two leading Democratic candidates, state Senate President Colleen Hanabusa and former congressman Ed Case, fought for months and ended up splintering their party's base.

Djou, a Honolulu city councilman, won 39.4 percent of the vote in the 1st Congressional District, while Hanabusa finished second with 30.8 percent and Case was third with 27.6 percent, according to final election results. About 54 percent of the district's 317,000 registered voters cast ballots.

If only one Dem runs, Djou most likely absorbs a monumental butt-whipping. And about that 0-5. Where does Mark Critz's easy victory over Tea Party candidate Tim Burns fit into that equation?

Mark Critz, you mean the staffer for John Murtha? Critz the same man that ran against everything that Dems passed or want to pass?

He got the job for six mths? I bet if he turns out to be another rat like Scott Brown, his first six mths might be his last!

It's politics at it's worse. I'll lie to your face on the trail. Then stab your in the back while in Washington. Yet the people of SW PA like those kind of people. Lie,cheat and steal... it's the American way! Look, Deweese made the cut again!

We get the govermnent we deserve is only partially true -- especailly when the election system requires vast amounts of money to compete. What chance does an honest person have to get elected and, if elected, to have any clout once on Capitol Hill? Cananyone name a country where the political system actually works better, though?

When can we read about Brants view on the Sestak bribery? What do you think should happen?

It seems like a lot of political posturing and a tempest in a teapot to me. From what I'm hearing, the potential position was secretary of the Navy, for which Sestak would have been highly qualified. It's not as if Obama was thinking of hiring some guy from the Arabian Horse Association to run FEMA.

As Biden would put it, " this is a big f#$king deal".

then the next thing comes to mind, John Murtha... something about rednecks, guns and bible??? The public is so dumbed down they will tune it out and wonder who is the next America Idol.

I think I hear the drums of impeachment starting...

What is sad, the people that didn't want Obamacare stated that he would give it to the illeagals!

Then here he is spouting off on tv that he wants to give them amnesty, sure he said he would make them pay a fine. I SAY NO WAY GO HOME! Send troops to the border? For show! All 1500 of them. They will be looking for gun trades. JOKE. Obama is a joke!

Sestak is just the tip of that iceberg, they are calling for a special prosecutror.
